If anyone sees Leita Estes, please thank her - she has stepped up and is going to oversee the Juniors events for me. In fact, it may be appropriate to embarrass her with an announcement! And of course, thanks to Valerie Nunes-Atkinson for giving the juniors seminar again this year (this is year 9 or 10 I believe- thanks Val!).
Please relay to any Juniors (and parents, etc.), that I am still in need of committee members to help facilitate the projects I've proposed to the board last June and this past January. They can contact me by phone or e-mail- or letter if they choose.
I am also sending JS stats to date for 2009 for posting on the GSPCA web site! I'll have those tonight or tomorrow.
I hope you all get the Rocky Mountain High and have a great NSS!!! Take some extra time and go up to Estes Park and go over Trail Ridge Drive if you have a couple of hours. I've even visited with a GSP along that route in a previous trip through there.

Out of the 12 dogs tracking today there were three GSPs and two of them passed the Tracking Dog Test:
Mayde Crk's Storm Savior RN TD handled by Jeanine Wright -- was first up and passed with flying colors. This is an impressive GSP that was a rescue dog and has found the perfect home :-)
CH Voyager's Windstorm TD handled by Karen Rooks Nauer was second up and also passed with a great demonstration of GSP tracking capabilities. The picture is of these two fine GSPs.
The third dog to pass the TD test was a Basset Hound handled by friend Carol Makowski -- it was great to see another pass occur at the GSPCA tracking test as local compatitors took advantage of the slots not filled by GSPs.
The fourth dog in the TD made it to the last turn but couldn't find the glove -- a Bulldog.
In the TDX (Tracking Dog Excellent) test no dogs passed. One GSP was entered.
The VST was the GSPCA's very first one offered for titling, and no GSPs were entered. This is the rarest of all primary AKC titles with the lowest pass rate in any venue. It is rare to see a VST pass. We were fortunate to have a front seat as Karen Rooks Nauer handled our Dachshund "Zin" to a PASS in the VST, also earning her Champion Tracker designation. This was only the 188th dog ever to pass a VST of any breed, and only the 5th Dachshund -- now CT CH Bardale's Dave's Favorite Whine :-)
The tracking test was a great success and was driven by friends Tana Rugg and Lynn Kaemmerer -- putting on a wonder display of GSP capabiilties and offering a full trio of tests to be filled by our local community. Our thanks for the GSPCA for allowing us to host this Third ever NSS Tracking test and our congrats to all the dogs passing!

I did not take any pictures to post at todays trial -- however the same GSPs who had run on the weekend pictured earlier were still there. Today's courses by Judge Beth Godwin were incredible -- they had flow, distance, and the kind of challenges that are appropriate for a breed of our size and strength. My thanks to her for presenting the us with these wonderful courses. Despite a weekend where across all GSPs entered we recorded only 6 Qs, today was different. We doubled the entire weekend total today, recording 12 Qs across the 9 classes offered!!!!
Things started out on a down note as Stacy and Livie ran first in Excellent B, performing a flawless course. Unfortunately the entire crowd and Stacy started celebrating about 0.5 seconds early as Livie failed the final obstacle of the course, dropping the bar on a single bar jump, failing the run. This theme carried forward throughout the entire Excellent and Open standard classes were zero Qs were recorded. Fortunately the Novice Handlers came through:
Nancy Ward and CH Newpoint Southwind Let It Snow RAE JH finished a perfect 100 with a time of 63.93 for first place in Novice B.
Susan Maltby (from Colorado Springs!) and HPS Good Golly Miss Molly finished with a 95 and a time of 59.15 for second place in Novice B
FAST allowed the competitors to choose their courses and we had a much higher Q rate.
Sandra McDonald and Berlin's Bonus Points v Hawkeye CDX RE NA finished First in Novice B FAST with a score of 61 and time of 31.42.
Marscha Hubbs and CH Marvel's Imagine the Palace CDX AX OAJ finished Second in Novice B FAST with a score of 57 and a time of 23.40
In Novice FAST Preferred 20" Holly Faught and CH Onapoint's Me Myself and I CD RAE NA NAJ NAP NJP NF finished first with a time of 26.55 and score of 57.
In Open FAST 24" Susan Maltby finished First with Image of Cocoa Brown OA AXJ NF with a score of 55 and time of 31.56
In Open FAST 20" Jeri Fishack and Minnie the Mooch CD RE MX MXJ OF finished first with a score of 61 and time of 32.67
In Excellent B FAST 20" Jeri Fischak and Stills Heaven Cent CD RE MX MXJ XF finished first with a score of 62 and time of 27.13
Judge Godwin's JWW courses were very flowy and had several tunnel performances to the delight of our GSP competitors.
In Novice B 24" Nancy Ward and CH Newpoint Southwind Let it Snow RAE JH finished first with a score of 90 and time of 35.94
In Excellent B 20" Jeri Fishack and Stills Heaven Cent CD RE MX MXJ XF finished first with a time of 28.54 (and a score of 100)
In Excellent B 24" Stacy Moss and MACH Sharpmtn's OU Live to Play XF finished first with a time of 30.04 (and a score of 100)
In Excellent B 20" Preferred Dianne Nokes and Never Rayne on my Parade CDX RN AX AXP AXJ OJP finished first with a time of 41.00 (and a score of 100)
I'd like to post more, but have to prepare my Trial Chairman's report tonight since I'm going up to Denver tomorrow night and need to get some sleep for the tracking test. I do not know if I'll be able to post further until I get up in Denver, and I won't be able to load pictures until I return to Colorado Springs -- so enjoy the news as it comes in!
Thanks!
